Privacy Policy — iLlumination US
Last updated 5 June 2026
iLlumination US (“the app”) is a free, ad-supported flashlight app for iPhone, developed and published by Erik Storli (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how the app handles your information.
The app itself collects no personal data. To keep the free version free, it shows banner ads served by Google AdMob, and the AdMob SDK may collect limited data as described below.
Data the app collects
The app has no user accounts and does no tracking of its own. Your settings (brightness, color, mode preferences) are stored locally on your iPhone and never leave the device. The content of Morse messages you type is never transmitted.
To understand how many people use the app, it sends anonymous usage signals (such as “the app was launched”) via TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. Before anything leaves your device, identifiers are irreversibly hashed on the device itself; neither we nor TelemetryDeck can link any signal to you, your device, or your Apple ID. No advertising identifier (IDFA) is used by this counting and no location is collected. You can read TelemetryDeck’s privacy policy at https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy/.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
To display ads, the app uses Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, the AdMob SDK may collect and process:
- Device identifiers (such as the advertising identifier / IDFA, where available)
- Coarse, non-precise usage and device information (e.g. device type, IP-derived approximate region, ad interactions)
By default the app shows non-personalized ads and does not request access to your IDFA unless you grant tracking permission through iOS. This data is handled by Google as an independent data controller under Google’s own privacy policy:
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
We do not receive your personal data from Google; we only receive aggregate, anonymous reports about ad performance.
Permissions
The app requests access to the camera flash (LED) solely to turn the flashlight on and off. It does not access the camera, take photos, or record video. No camera imagery is ever captured, stored, or transmitted.
Children
This app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Ad serving is subject to Google’s policies.
Your choices
You can limit ad tracking at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising on your iPhone. An ad-free paid version, iLlumination, is also available on the App Store.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new “Last updated” date.
